Amy Smart is an American former actress and model. Born and brought up in California USA she started her modelling career in Italy. In 1996, she made her debut as an actress in the TV film Her Costly Affair. It took some time to be a part of Starship Troopers in a smaller character. Amy had a difficult time making the switch from modeling to acting since models are not usually considered an actor of high quality. They're often given small or unimportant roles. Amy did not give up. Her first big role came in The 70s followed by Varsity Blues. In 2005, she was cast on the lead role in the romance comedy Just Friends with Ryan Reynolds. Amy gained recognition after more than ten years struggling. She continued with important films, including the Crank series starring Jason Statham and the series Shameless in which she was an adored recurring character.
